Triptych for Thanksgiving
Three light verses for a heavy table
As we move into Thanksgiving week, I hope we all keep the stress low, the gratitude high, and the smiles genuine. In that spirit, I wrote a triptych of limericks for the occasion.
If these bring you a little warmth or a moment of levity, let me know and I will happily write a few more.
Triptych for Thanksgiving
I. Land Acknowledgment, Lightly
There once was a feast on a claim
Where the history carried a flame.
We honored the past,
Said the quiet at last,
While passing the yams all the same.
II. Climate-Conscious Cooking
A chef with a solar array
Set the oven for 2pm today.
He said with delight,
“My carbon is light,
Yet my legumes still slay, by the way.”
III. The Family Table in 2025
A cousin arrived with a cause,
Prepared with her facts and her laws.
We lifted a glass
To dialogue with class,
Then fact-checked her take with applause.
